Brighton, CO —Today, the 17^th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announcing the filing of an Attempted Murder charge against Matthew Lucero, 34, related to his alleged actions that resulted in injuries to a Brighton Police Officer during an apprehension attempt along 7th Avenue in Brighton on August 30, 2023. 

Lucero is charged with:  

• 1st-Degree Attempted Murder (F2)
• 1st-Degree Assault on a Peace Officer (F3)
• 2nd-Degree Burglary (F3)
• Attempted Robbery (F5)
• 3rd-Degree Assault (M1)
• Crime of Violence (Sentence Enhancer)

Case number 2023CR002698 was filed in Adams County District Court. 

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual(s) committed a crime(s) under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. See Colo RPC 3.6.
